One really great way to practice writing good poetry is to write it a lot. Another way is to write about a lot of different things.

One thing that I write about that really helped me become a better poet is describing different kinds of music. Using musical terminoligy such as stacatto or vibrato can help excercise your vocabulary, while pulling in emotions helps to practice personification.

Also write about the weather and seasons. Describing each sense (taste, feel, smell, sight, sound) is a great way to practice describing things in depth.

If you have any poetry writing tips that you would like to share with a community of writers, send them to submitwritersjournal@gmail.com, and I will mention them in my blog!
